Halloween Etcetera

I'm so very sorry about my long absence! I wasn't doing anything in particular, only living. I went to school, watched movies, read, knitted, thought, repeated. But anyway, I hope everyone reading has been doing well, having fun in the pretty leaves and getting ready for winter (I know the squirrels are-have you seen how fat they're getting?).

Did you have a good Halloween? I did! I dressed up as a flapper, but unfortunately I took no photos. I didn't dress up for school, though, and next year I graduate, so next year's costume will be unspeakably amazing! I'm keeping it a secret, though, so you'll have to wait till next year to find out what it is.

The immortal Coco Chanel. Possibly the original flapper. But any excuse to use her photo is a good one.

PS. A bit of philosophy for you;
"Men fear thought as they fear nothing else on earth-more than ruin-more even than death....Thought is subversive and revolutionary, destructive and terrible, thought is merciless to privilege, established institutions, and comfortable habit. Thought looks into the pit of hell and is not afraid. Thought is great and swift and free, the light of the world, and the chief glory of man."

Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amelie Poulain

After 'discovering' the soundtrack a few days ago, I decided that I had to watch the movie last night (after watching it once about two years ago).
Ohmygod. It was so good!
It was so funny that I woke my mom up with my giggling, and so sweet! You kind of feel bad for Amelie, living in her own world of orangey-red and green and fairytale creatures, but at the same time you don't want her to change! You want to be her best friend! And Nino (saying his name with an american accent sounds so odd) is almost as cute, with his odd jobs and amazing collections (really-tape recording weird laughs? That's the best collection of anything ever!). And I just love the idea of Amelie's little world, with her apartment, and the metro stations, and the Deux Moulins.

I have discovered another world...

It's called We Heart It!
I feel an addiction coming on.
If you have an account there, feel free to add me. I'm ohfrench, as always :)
Why Oh, French! in the first place, you might be inclined to ask? I've no idea. It just sounds right.

Anyway, I got some very pretty pajamas today for the Quebec trip (in 3 days!), as well as some fresh air, so I'm really happy. However, while I was shopping, I found my dream boots. Yes, the ones I have been searching for for almost 3 years now. I had 5 criteria for them;
1.calf-height
2.brown leather
3.pretty foot shape
4.equestrian style
5. low heel (if any)
And still I couldn't find them! But today I did, and for the astonishingly low price of $140 (relative to the $900 Church boots, which were the closest I ever came to them)! The only thing is that I haven't got any money. So, this is my point; Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could make $140 in a matter of weeks? :D
Seriously.

P.S. Listen to this! Especially Decisions, Indecision. It's so pretty! I have such a thing for weird, shoegazey music! I'm also completely in love with the Amelie soundtrack at the moment!♥

Gratitude

Yesterday was Thanksgiving here in Canada, and I know it's pretty elementary school, but I'm going to list the less obvious things that I'm thankful for. Gratitude and humility are things that I definitely try to practice daily, and I'm definitely happier for it. But there are always things that you forget about, and that would reduce your happiness were they taken away. So, here goes;

My cats (and my grandma's cat)

This is Gwen ^^ The other ones name is Merlin (like the BBC show), and my grandma's cat's name is Thing, because my grandparents interchangeably call it 'he' and 'she'. He's kind of like Ben Weatherstaff, but cute and fluffy.

Other bloggers

I love that other people take the time to write about the things that they find beautiful & important, and give others a little glimpse into their world. And I love how people around the world can share interests and make friends. I think, on some levels, I would feel quite lonely if I didn't have the internet. As always, a huge thank-you to everyone who leaves comments, not because it's an affirmation of popularity (like on Facebook), but because it's just nice to hear from other people!
P.S. I love your laptop, Tree Castles :D

Imagination

Where would we be without our imaginations? I could write volumes about imagination and still not be finished. I'm so, so, so thankful that I was blessed with natural creativity. I don't imagine I could survive without it. It's everything to me. Even if everything I owned was destroyed in a fire, and everyone I love was gone, I would still have my mind. Your imagination, your mind, your thoughts, is where home really is.

Everything

If it weren't for everything, there would be nothing. And that's a puzzling, depressing & frightening thought, all at once.
What are you thankful for?

I Drew This

Her name is Pocahontas. She has Audrey Hepburn eyes.
Aaargh.I want to make something but I don't know what! This is like writer's block but a thousand times worse, because I know how to do a lot of things but I don't do any of them especially well (read; well enough to sell them). I think I need to take a walk in the woods tomorrow.
